What is internship medical scribe training?

An Internship Medical Scribe Training is a structured program designed to teach aspiring medical scribes the skills needed to accurately document patient encounters in real time. During the internship, trainees learn medical terminology, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and clinical workflow under the supervision of healthcare professionals. This training is essential for preparing individuals to assist physicians by creating detailed and organized medical records, allowing doctors to focus more on patient care. Successful completion can lead to entry-level positions as medical scribes in hospitals or clinics.

What are some common challenges faced by interns during medical scribe training, and how can they be addressed?

Interns in medical scribe training often face challenges such as learning complex medical terminology, adapting to fast-paced clinical environments, and accurately documenting physician-patient interactions. To overcome these challenges, it is important to actively engage in training sessions, seek feedback from supervising physicians and experienced scribes, and utilize available study resources. Maintaining strong organizational skills and communicating regularly with team members also help interns build confidence and proficiency throughout their training.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship medical scribe trainee?

To succeed as an Internship Medical Scribe Trainee, you need a basic understanding of medical terminology, strong attention to detail, and at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and rapid typing proficiency are typically required, with some employers offering specific scribe training programs or certifications. Excellent listening skills, adaptability, and effective communication help you accurately document patient encounters and work seamlessly with healthcare providers. These skills ensure precise medical documentation, support efficient clinical workflows, and contribute to improved patient care.

Medical Assistant - Mobile Dermatology (Full-Time / Part-Time)

OnSpot Dermatology

West Palm Beach, FL โ€ข On-site

Full-time, Part-time

Re-posted 4 days ago

Job description

Work in a mobile dermatology clinic, assist in surgical procedures, and help detect skin cancer early—all while being part of a fast-growing, mission-driven team.

About OnSpot Dermatology

At OnSpot, we’re redefining how patients access dermatology care. Our state-of-the-art mobile medical clinics bring full-service skin care—including screenings, biopsies, and Mohs surgery—directly to communities and workplaces across Southwest Florida.

We combine innovation, compassion, and convenience to make high-quality dermatology care more accessible—and to save lives through early skin cancer detection.

Why This Role Is Different

This is not your typical Medical Assistant position.

  • Work in a mobile clinic—no two days are exactly the same
  • Gain hands-on experience in dermatology and surgical procedures
  • Be part of a close-knit, supportive team (not a large corporate system)
  • Make a real impact by helping detect and treat skin cancer early
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and expand your clinical skills

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome patients and prepare them for exams
  • Take medical histories and assist with documentation (scribe)
  • Assist providers during procedures, excisions, and Mohs surgeries
  • Prepare and handle specimens for lab processing
  • Support patient flow, scheduling, and follow-up care
  • Help ensure every patient feels comfortable, informed, and cared for
  • Pitch in where needed as part of a collaborative team

What We’re Looking For
  • Medical Assistant experience (dermatology or surgical experience is a plus—but we will train the right candidate)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Dependable, flexible, and motivated
  • Experience with EMR systems is helpful (we’ll train you on EMA)

Schedule Options
  • Full-time and part-time positions available
  • Flexible scheduling depending on clinic routes

Compensation & Growth
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Hands-on training in dermatology and surgical procedures
  • Opportunity to grow within a rapidly expanding practice

Our Mission

To create a patient experience like no other—and to make life-saving dermatology care accessible to everyone.
