Operates ultrasound scanning equipment to produce records of designated portions of the human anatomy of adult and geriatric patients.


REQUIRED:

  1. Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Ultrasound.
  2. Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required. 
  3. Minimum of one (1) year Ultrasound experience preferred in a hospital setting.
  4. BLS CPR certification.
  5. Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each exam performed and to evaluate, synthesize and communicate diagnostic information to the radiologist and or attending physician.
  6. Knowledge of image processing, image reconstruction, and PACS.
  7. Experience with biopsies, aspirations, and drainage procedures.
  8. Knowledge of physics, equipment operation and care, procedure accessories, anatomy and physiology in relation to ultrasound procedures.
  9. Knowledge and use of proper methods of medical documentation.
  10. Knowledge and practice of medical ethics.
  11. Good vision, hearing, and manual dexterity. Ability to transfer patients safely from wheelchair/stretchers to the procedure table.
