Job description

JOB DETAILS:

$67,028.00 - $90,588.00 Annually
JOB SUMMARY:
Generate profitable sales of Caterpillar engines and allied equipment in assigned markets. Properly apply the equipment by utilizing engineering, technical and sales knowledge. Ensure a high degree of client satisfaction with each project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Reviews projects at the concept and/or design stage.
  • Makes application recommendations and guide architects, engineers, and end user clients.
  • Prepares and submits bill of materials to bidding contractors.
  • Prepares and/or reviews equipment pricing for the bid to match the bill of materials.
  • Takes the required action to obtain the order from the successful bidder.
  • Delivers quotations, information, and details to clients.
  • Works safely at all times. Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists other sales representatives with engine quotations.
  • Prepares sales invoice and obtains required client purchase documents.
  • Obtains client signatures and control documents as required.
  • Assists and/or prepares all sales, delivery, and credit documents.
  • Inspects equipment installation. Be present at equipment start-ups, if possible.
  • Coordinates with Service Department to correct application problems that occurs.
  • Advises Sales Manager of application problems and corrections taken or recommended.
  • Assists Sales Manager in developing the annual sales goals and objectives.
  • Maintains client call list.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.
  • Works within and promotes corporate values.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Thorough knowledge of electric power generation equipment and engine driven systems including pumps, compressors, and crushers.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar engine line and applications.
  • Must have effective interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with people and communicate sales transactions.
  • Must have mechanical and electrical aptitude and be able to read and comprehend mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering drawings.
  • Must be able to understand and effectively use engine specification sheets and engine price lists to estimate jobs and prepare bids and quotations.
  • Must know allied and competitive equipment associated with engine applications.
  • Must be able to develop detailed communications documents that are readily understood by co-workers, vendors, and clients.
  • Must have thorough working knowledge of Calculus I mathematics.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must know and be able to use Microsoft Office programs and sales related software.
  • Must have acceptable and consistent attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Associate of Science or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior engineering and system design experience.
  • Client facing sales or client technical support experience with engine application preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
