Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP) is the state's only Class 1A facility and the only correctional facility providing custody and control of adult male inmates who have been sentenced to death. Serves as an Administrator. Minimum Qualifications Four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following: 1.

Six years of full-time experience in any field; or 2. A bachelor's degree. OR A master's degree plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR A doctorate plus two years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted. In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Provides direction and guidance in security related matters through regular conferences to ascertain compliance with all state and federal regulations and rules, ACA standards, and any other related policies and procedures that apply to areas of supervision and their security programs. Conducts regular inspections of all security areas for adherence to sanitation regulations, as well as, standard security procedures. Confers with offenders, as well as offenders' family and friends, regarding various concerns, requests, complaints, etc.

Ensures that all treatment, educational, and religious program organizers receive maximum opportunity to work within the unit and that the staff of these programs receive the support needed to fulfill their tasks. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work with adult male inmates of all custody levels - minimum, medium, maximum (death row), and protective custody. Will supervise maximum-security inmates and lower-level security officers.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC) The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted or may be required to accept a probational appointment. Other Important Information: IMPORTANT: In the supplemental questions section, applicants must authorize the HR Office of DPS&C-Corrections Services to contact prior employers to check references under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), to be considered for employment, by answering 'YES' to the PREA question. Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.

Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification. This is a 24-hour facility. Applicants may be required to work shift work.
