Boeing Vancouver is seeking various Data Science Intern for our internship program. The Data Scientist intern will be reporting to the Data Science Manager. This is a full-time internship opportunity that is based at our office in Richmond, British Columbia and is up to 8 months in length, starting in early September 2026.

As a Data Scientist Intern, you will have to combine the skills of a developer and a detective, drawing on a wide palette of mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and programming techniques to unravel mysteries too subtle for the naked eye. You will get to work closely with our customers, building their trust, studying their problems and business needs, and you will blend artistry with science to visualize and explain your findings and stories.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with an assigned mentor or a buddy.

  • Work closely with our customers/stakeholders to understand their business problems.

  • Conduct exploratory analyses and data set characterizations.

  • Research and propose (where applicable) appropriate technology/method to address business problem.

  • Execute data science and analytics project tasks.

  • Coordinate internal documentation and quality reviews.

  • Effectively communicate technical approach, assumptions, help needed and business outcomes to project team, analytics leadership and customers.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at Richmond location. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student with an accredited university or college with studies in Computer Science or similar technical discipline.

  • Must be at least a 2nd year or higher student with studies in a relevant program.

  • Experience working with Python.

  • Willing and able to work 40 hours per week during the internship.

  • Provide consent to Canadian Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) assessment and willing and eligible to work on government and defense-related programs.

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

  • Individuals must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods.

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • Experience with Apache Spark and/or Databricks.

  • Experience with cloud (Azure preferred).

  • Experience in collaborative development environments and version control (e.g., GitLab).

  • Previous internship experience.

  • Working towards a Master's degree.

  • Domain knowledge in the aviation & aerospace industry.

  • Project management knowledge (PMBOK, Agile, Kanban).

  • Experience with the following technologies/methodologies:

    • Natural Language Processing.

    • Reliability Analytics.

    • Predictive Maintenance.

    • Time Series Forecasting.

*Graduates are ineligible unless continuing in post graduate studies.

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.

Starting salary will be based on year of post-secondary education completed, qualifications and experience. The range for this internship is $23.50 - $27.00 CAD hourly.
