Job Description Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Oakland University invites applications for at least one Visiting Instructor position. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for supporting the department's teaching mission through the instruction of foundational undergraduate courses (including introductory mathematics and statistics).
The standard teaching load for this position is three courses per semester (3+3). In addition to teaching excellence, the Visiting Instructor is required to fulfill service duties that advance the department's mission. These may include assisting with student success initiatives. As this is a teaching-intensive appointment, there are no research requirements or expectations for scholarly publication.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field by the time of appointment. While the doctoral degree is the standard requirement, individuals holding a Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Science (MS) in Mathematics or Statistics will be considered if they demonstrate a record of exceptional teaching and professional experience. Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and have the ability to effectively instruct a diverse range of courses.
Beyond academic credentials, the ideal candidates will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, a proven track record of engaging with a diverse student body, and experience in curriculum support or student success initiatives.
