Position Overview

Our Catholic-Franciscan high school seeks a passionate, student-centered Mathematics Teacher who is committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and the empowerment of young women. The successful candidate will foster a rigorous and engaging learning environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, physical movement and confidence in mathematics while supporting the school's Catholic and Franciscan mission. As a member of our faculty, the Mathematics Teacher will inspire students to develop their God-given talents, pursue intellectual growth, and become compassionate leaders who embody the Franciscan values of respect, service, peace, humility, and care for others.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction amp; Curriculum
  • Teach a range of high school mathematics courses, which may include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry and/or Calculus.
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with state standards and departmental goals.
  • Utilize instructional practices that promote critical thinking, reflection, and meaningful discussion.
  • Create curricular activities that promote student movement, hands-on learning and collaboration.
  • Assess student learning through a variety of formative amp; summative measures and provide timely feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Foster a classroom culture that promotes academic excellence, collaboration, respect, and personal responsibility.
Catholic Identity amp; Faith Formation
  • Serve as a visible and authentic witness to the Catholic faith and Franciscan values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings and the Franciscan charism into classroom instruction once per unit.
  • Encourage students' spiritual growth through prayer, reflection, service, and faith-centered dialogue.
  • Participate actively in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and other faith formation activities.
  • Support the school's mission by fostering a culture of joyful discipleship and Christian witness.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records, grades, and communication with students and parents.
  • Hold office hours before and/or after school twice per week (same day/time each week) and respond to email and/or phone inquiries within 48 hours during the school week.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-sponsored events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and uphold the mission of the school.
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan State Teaching Certification (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of secondary mathematics curriculum and instructional best practices.
  • Commitment to educating and mentoring young women in a faith-centered environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
