POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Math Teacher for Immediate Placement
We encourage a broadly diverse pool of applicants for all positions as we work intentionally to create a faculty and administration that reflects our student body. This position requires a willingness to  teach at various math level courses, with a current focus on Pre-Calc, Accounting, Probability & Statistics, and College Algebra..
Qualified applicants should skillfully demonstrate the following competencies and be prepared to teach in a welcoming and inspiring learning environment. The selected applicant will:
- create lesson plans designed to support mastery of grade level essential outcomes consistent with school goals and objectives.
- take ownership for student academic progress and show an active interest in student achievement.
- demonstrate instructional practices that engage students in conceptual thinking, promote problem solving and creativity, and challenge students to achieve high standards of content mastery.
- provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt delivery to meet the needs of students with varying academic skill levels.
- support an atmosphere that accelerates each student's academic, social and emotional growth and achievement. 
- successfully collaborate with staff from other departments to help students apply course content across the curriculum.
- support lessons through effective use of technology tools (Mercy HS is an Apple Distinguished school).
- create a culturally responsive learning environment and pedagogy.   
- contribute as a team player and supportive member of the Mercy community.
- work effectively and willingly with students of diverse backgrounds including race, culture and socio-economic status.
- have effective verbal and written communication skills in interacting with various stakeholders. 
KEY QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must hold a degree in a related field of study and a current EX Michigan teaching certification. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master's Degree. A minimum of two years teaching experience at the high school level is preferred. Applicants should visibly demonstrate a willingness to expand their knowledge and skills by participating in professional development opportunities in all areas.
