We are looking for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intern to join our HNI team in Muscatine, Iowa during Summer 2027!
What You Will Do:HNI's IDT summer internship program is a great opportunity for first-hand experience in your field of interest. You'll work on projects that leverage artificial intelligence to improve business processes, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation across the organization. HNI's large, paid internship program includes exposure to leadership, professional development opportunities (Lunch and Learns, training, skill building workshops), support through a mentor relationship, volunteering, and social events! Company-paid apartment-style housing may also be available, based on student's geographic need and current housing capacity.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Developing and testing AI-powered solutions and automation tools
  • Working with large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and business insights
  • Supporting generative AI initiatives, including chatbot and copilots
  • Collaborating with business and technical teams to solve complex problems
  • Researching emerging AI technologies and recommending practical applications
  • Creating documentation and presentations to communicate project outcomes

What You Have:
  • Candidates should be working towards a BA or MBA with a major in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, MIS, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field. Junior-level coursework is preferred.
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in AI, machine learning, analytics, programming projects, hackathons, or related extracurricular activities.
