Job description

We are currently hiring for Production Workers at our manufacturing plant in Lockport, New York, about 30 miles north of Buffalo and 20 miles east of Niagara Falls. As a Production Worker you play a key role in helping us meet goals and objectives and will work to produce specialty materials that are important to customers in strategic end markets such as aerospace and defense, oil and gas, chemical processing, electrical energy and medical.

As a Production Worker you will have the opportunity to work in either our Vacuum Induction Melting or Remelt department. In order to become successful and provide immediate impact, you will have to quickly learn ATI, our manufacturing process, and products while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineering, maintenance, quality, and others. Workplace safety is also one of our strategic core values that we live by and you will have a vital role in ensuring that we continue to have safe working operations and processes.

This is a union role that rotates shifts on a weekly basis. You must be willing to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift hours, as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime (including up to 12-hour shifts) as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Vacuum Induction Melting
    • Material movement throughout the plant using mobile equipment such as cranes and lift trucks
    • Setting up and feeding material into molds
    • Arrangement and distribution of charge material that's melted in the furnace
    • Rebuilding tasks for anneal boxes and other crucial components to the manufacturing process
    • Recording and tracking material specifications and manufacturing criteria/results for quality records
  • Remelt
    • Material movement throughout the plant using mobile equipment such as cranes and lift trucks
    • Assist with set up and operation of equipment and material within the Vacuum Arc Remelt (VAR) process and Electro-slag Remelt (VAR) process
    • Perform welding (MIG), cutting/sawing, and grinding using various machines and tools
    • Recording and tracking material specifications and manufacturing criteria/results for quality records

Basic Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferrable skills.
  • Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension. Ability to read instructions, do basic math and perform simple measurements is critical.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechanical or other related curriculum

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability and willingness to operate and/or maintain a variety of operating units,
  • Work shifts, weekends, and overtime in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely as a team member.
  • Reading, math & problem-solving skills with electrical or mechanical aptitude.
