Educational Requirements of position:
  • Degree/Experience
    • 4 year degree in a relevant curriculum from an accredited college or university or minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Technical Requirements of position:
  • Software
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel
    • Proficiency in Timberline Estimating and On-Screen Take-Off
    • Proficiency in iSqft (online bid solicitation software)

  • General
    • In depth knowledge of plan and specification reading
    • Mastery of quantity take-off & subcontractor solicitation
    • Mastery of mathematical formulas required to perform quantity take-off and bid evaluation
    • In-depth understanding of subcontractor bid evaluation
    • Working knowledge of building components
    • Basic understanding of trade sequencing
    • Basic understanding of contract language
    • Basic understanding of risk management

Essential Function of the position
  • Detailed review of plans and specifications
  • Perform detailed quantity surveys and input into Timberline Estimating as directed by the Senior Estimator
  • Price items taken off for review by Senior Estimator
  • Constant communication with the Senior Estimator and fellow estimators about unusual situations, possible scope gaps, etc.
  • Distributes plans and specifications to subcontractors/vendors
  • Subcontractor/Vendor solicitation and follow up. Must maintain constant communication with and support subcontractors/vendors throughout the bid process. Must provide at least 3 competitive bids on all scopes of work for which he/she is responsible.
  • Visit subcontractors/vendors as time allows to maintain a good working relationship
  • Provides support for the subcontractor prequalification effort
  • Develop RFI's and submit to Senior Estimator
  • Analyze quotes from multiple subcontractors/vendors
  • Perform buyout and drafting of subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time under the direction of multiple supervisors
  • Maintain subcontractor/vendor database
  • Maintain an active presence in the industry

Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain relationship with subcontractors and vendors
  • Supports company community service projects.
