The Hardware Engineering Organization provides mechanical engineering expertise across locations in Arizona, Alabama, California, Texas, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  The mechanical engineer position includes assignments ranging from concept design, detailed documentation, structural/thermal analysis, design verification testing, production support and field support for products including radars, missiles, and command and control systems.  

What You Will Do

  • Perform mechanical design, structural and thermal analysis, and design documentation for hardware systems.
  • Collaborate as a part of a dynamic team to support product development, including part and drawing creation, release, and incorporation of drawing changes.
  • Apply mechanical engineering expertise to creatively solve complex design challenges efficiently, making sound, data-driven, and technical decisions.
  • Provide support to factory, field, production, and suppliers both domestically and internationally.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, designers, structural and thermal analysts, as well as engineers from other disciplines.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major
  • Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, such as CREO or equivalent
  • Prior engineering project experience or have completed an internship demonstrating practical application of engineering principles

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM)
  • Experience with electronics packaging, radar antenna design, aerospace engineering, or precision systems
  • Experience applying standard mechanical engineering design processes and adapting workflows for project requirements
  • Experience collaborating within a team to achieve project objectives

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
