Duties

You will serve as a Security Specialist (International Port) and be responsible for acting as a subject matter professional on port security governance and facility security. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of foreign trade partners' maritime supply chain security. Typical tasks include conducting foreign port assessments, delivering training, implementing risk mitigation measures, providing technical assistance, and preparing reports...
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

• Conducting port security assessments in U.S. trading partner countries.
• Developing findings on maritime commerce which may have nationwide or international impact.
• Helping prepare findings for consolidation into the final assessment report and coordinates report writing.
• Serving as an exercise leader, instructor, presenter, and facilitator for maritime and port security workshops and seminars, in foreign ports.
• Working with the Planning and Logistics Section staff to coordinate resource needs for capacity building and technical assistance, including travel, capacity building material and manual production, and translation services.
• Coordinating with head of delegation (HOD), IPS liaison officers, and assessors for clarification, additional information, and accuracy of reports.

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

• Supporting port assessments involving national security and providing recommendations that may have nationwide or international impact on maritime commerce.
• Improving port security through the development, promulgation, deployment and/or implementation of operational doctrine, tactics, techniques or procedures
• Analyzing information available and making recommendations as to whether a particular country and its ports are compliant with international security requirements
