The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in optimizing production processes, ensuring product quality, and supporting the introduction of new products.ย The Manufacturing Engineer will drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Adheres to Viant Core Beliefs and all safety and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Creates and implements lean processes utilizing appropriate methods such as CNC turning and milling, Wire EDM, Laser Etch, Laser and TIG welding, Polishing, Finishing, Cleaning, Passivation, Assembly, and Inspection.
  • Creates, reviews and approves engineering drawings, change orders and specifications.
  • Reviews, creates and revises CAD models and/or CAM programs to support production.
  • Develops tooling, fixtures and equipment used to optimize productivity and cost.
  • Investigates, develops and implements new process technologies of moderate scope.
  • Collaborates with Quality, Supply Chain, Operations and suppliers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and cost reduction.
  • Defines, produces and implements documents including standard work and process work instructions.
  • Supports more experienced engineers on complex projects and initiatives.
  • Performs other functions as necessary to support the business.
  • Very limited travel may be required.

Environmental working conditions

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
  • Visual Acuity - close vision, distance vision, and color vision necessary to inspect parts and read blue prints.
  • Worker is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Qualifications

  • Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering or technical field preferred, years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Relative co-op, internship, previous employment, or classroom training experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of metals machining, processing, and finishing is preferred.ย ย 
  • Lean manufacturing and new product development experience is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T is desirable.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and drive initiatives to completion.
  • Ability to provide solid rational and justification for process improvement change requests.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Previous CAD experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
