Location: Huntsville, AL; Littleton, CO; Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite Only)
Type of Role: Direct Hire (Full-Time, Onsite)
Shift: 9x80 Schedule (Every other Friday off; onsite in Huntsville)
Pay: $104,500 – $184,115/yr, the salary range will reflect the final work location POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role is for a Flight Sciences Multi-Body Dynamics Engineer – Level 4 working at the forefront of spacecraft and missile structural dynamics. The engineer will lead or significantly contribute to structural dynamic and multi-body dynamics analyses for flight hardware, support loads development and dynamic testing, and help ensure system performance and survivability under operational conditions, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform advanced structural dynamic analyses for missile and spacecraft flight hardware, including evaluation of structural response to mechanical loads, mechanism deployment motions, and segment or spacecraft separation events.
Produce and maintain high-fidelity structural and multi-body dynamics models using in-house and commercial software codes to simulate mechanical loading conditions, deployment dynamics, and separation behavior.
Lead loads development at both primary structure and component levels and guide system-level dynamic testing and data evaluation.
Prepare detailed dynamic test plans, define test requirements, monitor tests, reduce test data, and correlate results to analytical predictions; document findings in comprehensive post-test reports.
Operate as an integral member and technical leader on multi-disciplinary product development teams, performing structural design trades, design/analysis activities, and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems.
Support and refine dynamic test definitions, requirements development, test monitoring, data reduction, and comparison-to-analysis efforts to validate models and designs.
Provide user documentation and recommendations in analysis data packages to support peer and customer reviews, and present analysis results to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and program leadership at technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
Mentor junior engineers and cross-train engineers from other disciplines in structural dynamics and multi-body analysis techniques. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Significant experience performing structural dynamic analysis and rigid-body/multi-body dynamics modeling for aerospace or missile systems.
Experience with finite element modeling and analysis tools and/or multi-body dynamics codes (in-house or commercial).
Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team and to communicate complex technical results clearly to diverse audiences.
Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate government security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience preparing and executing dynamic test plans, including test requirement development, monitoring, data reduction, and correlation to analysis.
Experience leading loads development and assessing structural performance at component and system levels.
Experience presenting complex structural dynamics and multi-body analysis at technical reviews and customer meetings.
Strong programming or scripting skills to support model creation, automation, and data processing in structural dynamics applications
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to cross-functional training and technical leadership. The Global Edge Consultants, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
