The Westbrook School Department is seeking a Business Teacher at Westbrook Regional Vocational Center, beginning the 2026-2027 school year.

About the Position

We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered Business Teacher to join our CTE team and lead an engaging, career-focused program that blends classroom learning with authentic, real-world application. This two-year Business program prepares students for college and career success through coursework in business and human resource management, personal finance, accounting, and Microsoft Office. Students may earn up to 15 college credits, along with industry certifications in Microsoft Office and other related certifications.

A signature component of the program is the Virtual Enterprises International experience, where students operate a simulated business as entrepreneurs and professionals. Through this hands-on model, students apply business concepts in a competitive, real-world simulation while participating in competitions. 

The program is enriched by meaningful partnerships with local and statewide business professionals, providing students with authentic exposure to workplace expectations, industry practices, and emerging career opportunities. Students engage with cutting-edge business practices, Microsoft Office Suite applications,  accounting software, and a high-quality, work-based learning environment designed to mirror today's professional world.

Qualified candidates will have:

• Master's degree in Business Education, or a related field (necessary to teach college courses)
• State teaching certification/licensure, or a commitment to complete the required courses to become certified
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, experience with accounting software, business concepts, entrepreneurship, and industry trends
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Job Responsibilities:

• Engage and inspire high school students with diverse interests, abilities, and learning styles through dynamic, student-centered instruction
• Communicate clearly, proactively, and in a timely manner with students, families, and colleagues to support student achievement
• Collaborate with colleagues to modify and differentiate curriculum and instruction for students with plans for Special Education, 504, Multilingual Learners (ML), and Gifted/Talented in accordance with guidelines
• Guide and support students exploring pathways in business, marketing, entrepreneurship, and related career fields
• Facilitate authentic, hands-on learning experiences, including internships, industry visits, collaborative projects, and business partnerships
• Coordinate and participate in college visits, field experiences, student competitions, and related enrichment opportunities
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment grounded in strong relationships, patience, and high expectations for student success
• Demonstrate integrity and build positive rapport with students while maintaining a clear commitment to their academic and personal growth
• Maintain consistent classroom routines and expectations aligned with school-wide protocols to support a safe and structured learning environment
• Implement effective and varied assessment practices to measure student learning and strengthen program outcomes
• Exhibit a growth mindset by continuously reflecting on practice, seeking feedback, creating student opportunities, and refining instructional strategies
• Build and maintain relationships with local and statewide business leaders to enhance student learning and expand networking opportunities
• Manage concurrent enrollment partnerships with postsecondary institutions, ensuring alignment of curriculum while supporting students in earning college credit while in high school
• Stay current with industry trends, instructional strategies, and concurrent enrollment best practices through ongoing professional development
• Develop and manage program budgeting, supply orders, and vendor/distributor accounts as needed
• Integrate Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, and instructional technology to enhance teaching, learning, and communication
• Perform other duties as assigned

About the School

Westbrook Regional Vocational Center (WRVC) is a collaborative Career and Technical Education (CTE) school with nearly 400 learners and 25 staff. Our 16 programs serve 11 sending schools and offer cutting-edge, rigorous, and relevant CTE learning that prepares students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers. CTE programs at WRVC blend content with real-world applications and live work-based learning to prepare students for college and career pathways. Students work in collaborative teams to develop solutions to authentic problems and learn how to implement protocols and procedures in the classroom and the field.
