The mission of the Applied AI team is to enable organizations within Worldwide Amazon.com Stores to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies across various parts of our business.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II (SDEII) to join our Applied AI team to work on LLM-based solutions. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the systems and tools that enable us to accelerate knowledge operations and work in the intersection of Science and Engineering. You will push the boundaries of ML and Generative AI techniques to scale the inputs for hundreds of billions of dollars of annual revenue for our eCommerce business. We are seeking someone who is to learn, and be ready to use a wide range of software and development tools required to perform the job in Python, Java, container-based development, SageMaker, PyTorch, PyTorch Lightning, Langchain, etc.
Your work should consistently be of high quality (e.g., secure, testable, maintainable, low-defects, efficient, etc.) and incorporate best practices. You should identify, follow, and enforce high development standards, working alongside Sr. SDEs.
As an SDEII, You should be able to work fairly independently using the above-mentioned tools, while also working with various stakeholders and partners, such as Applied Scientists, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, Software Development Managers, Solution Architects, and Doc writers. You should be able to integrate new software components into partner codebases, while understanding and incorporating all required concerns, including roadblocks. You should understand distributed system design patterns and be able to apply them in existing and emerging ML domains with limited guidance from Sr. SDEs.
You should help the team evolve by actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, and team planning. As such, you should participate in all projects in the functional area by helping to review designs, contributing to code reviews, and helping to remove blockers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
