Designer II 
Engineering, Vancouver, BC
Scope of Position:

We are seeking a technically skilled Designer II (permanent full-time) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the structural analysis and design of formwork, shoring, and scaffolding solutions across a wide range of projects. Work closely with an industry-leading team of experts to create design drawings, material take-offs, and custom designs. You will also collaborate directly with customers to understand project requirements and provide technical support. The successful candidate is self-motivated, a fast learner and committed to continuous growth. A strong focus on exceptional client service, teamwork, and developing technical expertise to deliver practical and creative solutions is also essential. 

What you'll do on a typical day:
  • Design formwork, shoring, and scaffolding solutions for a variety of construction projects.
  • Perform and document design calculations, including the use of in-house structural analysis software, to ensure safe and economical solutions.
  • Create general arrangement, assembly, and steel fabrication drawings in both 2D and 3D.
  • Collaborate with Sales to deliver the most cost-effective design solutions.
  • Directly engage with customers to understand project scope and provide technical expertise and design modifications.
  • Work closely with design professionals (e.g., internal and external stamping engineers) to ensure compliance with national and local standards, including CSA, OHSA, and applicable building codes.
  • Prepare material lists and review material lists prepared by others.
  • Create and maintain engineering-related documentation.
  • Follow drafting and engineering procedures as outlined in the Quality Management System and Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP).
  • Assist Engineering Interns, Draftspeople, and Junior Designers as needed.
  • Visit job sites to provide technical support when required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.   
What you'll need to be successful:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience. 
  • 3+ years of experience in structural engineering and construction. Formwork or scaffolding design experience is preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of structural and architectural drawings and construction sequencing. 
  • Demonstrated professional judgment, attention to detail and ability to consistently maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality in work produced. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external clients. 
  • Knowledge of Canadian and Provincial Building Standards and Codes is an asset. 
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Quick learner with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD 2D and 3D. 
  • Experience with Revit is an asset.
