Position Summary
The University of St. Francis College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for the position of Teaching Instructor in the Recovery Support Specialist area. This full-time faculty member will coordinate internships for students in the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certificate program and teach CRSS-297: "Field Practicum and Fieldwork for Recovery Support Services." Position will begin July 2026.
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned class; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with curriculum development and review; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area Program Director; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.
Teaching assignment may include day or evening classes. Internship sites will be visited at least once per semester. This position is grant-funded and contingent on continuing grant funding. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise CRSS/CPRS interns.
  • Teach Internship Practicum class.
  • Identify new internship sites and maintain agreements with existing internship sites.
  • Assist with intern events, evaluations, group and individual supervision and trainings.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in behavior health or closely related field 
  • Experience in behavioral health, recovery support, substance use disorders, mental health and/or co-occurring disorders
  • Experience with teaching and mentoring adult student populations 
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, solve problems and work as a member of a team
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position
  • Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university
Preferred Requirements
  • ICB credential
  • 3 + years experience in behavioral health, recovery support, substance use disorders, mental health and/or co-occurring disorders
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday evening and/or Saturday during scheduled class hours and working other times as needed to supervise internships.
  • This position is full-time, grant funded.
Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Substantial time is spent working in a classroom. This position also requires visiting internship sites as needed for supervision of interns. This position requires the following physical activities: driving, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
