Job description

Unlimited Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator I to join our Corporate IT team in Herndon, VA. This position supports company staff across all office locations and provides tier 1 and tier 2 technical support, endpoint administration, and identity management within a regulated defense contracting environment.

This is an entry-level position structured for growth. The successful candidate will begin with day-to-day user support and advance into broader systems administration responsibilities as proficiency develops. The role reports directly to the Corporate IT lead, providing direct exposure to infrastructure, identity, and compliance operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide tier 1 and tier 2 technical support to internal staff, including hardware, software, account, and application issues
  • Image, configure, and deploy workstations and mobile devices
  • Execute user onboarding and offboarding, including account provisioning, mailbox configuration, group membership, and equipment issuance
  • Administer Active Directory and Microsoft 365 user accounts, distribution groups, and shared mailboxes
  • Support Entra ID and Intune device enrollment, compliance policies, and endpoint configuration
  • Maintain office network equipment, peripherals, and conference room technology
  • Assist with endpoint security, patch management, and vulnerability remediation
  • Support documentation and evidence collection for CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 compliance requirements
  • Document all work in the company ticketing system and maintain timely communication with end users
  • Participate in infrastructure and migration projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Working knowledge of IT fundamentals, including directory services, user authentication and authorization, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP networking
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
  • Strong organizational skills and consistent follow-through on assigned work
  • Ability to work from the Herndon, VA office a minimum of three days per week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, or Microsoft 365 administration in an academic, lab, or internship setting
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+; Microsoft MS-900 or AZ-900
  • Internship, campus IT, or part-time help desk experience
  • Personal lab experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, or Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting
  • Interest in physical security and access control technologies
