Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description

This posting is for a SkillBridge internship in the Development Manufacturing Operation (DMO) organization within the Product Validation (PV) department at GE Aerospace. Candidates for this internship may support the Instrumentation Application Shop, Developmental Machining Operation and other internal and external customers.

You could be a strong military fit for this role if you have experience managing readiness and availability of parts, equipment, or vehicles, coordinating maintenance or operations schedules, and leading continuous improvement or process-improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor end-to-end material availability; expedite, de-expedite, and re-prioritize to protect production schedule adherence and on-time delivery
  • Run daily/weekly tiered meetings to resolve shortages, quality holds, and logistics delays; escalate critical risks with clear recovery plans
  • Lead RCA on misses (shortages, late deliveries, plan breaks) and implement systemic fixes
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering on schedule impacts, BOM accuracy, and effective change cut-in
  • Coordinate with Logistics/Warehouse on inbound flow, kitting, and point-of-use material availability
  • Maintain accurate records (cycle counts, reconciliations) and improve inventory health metrics
  • Use data to drive decisions; publish standard dashboards for shortages, OTD, inventory, and forecast accuracy
  • Lead continuous improvement (standard work, PFEP, Kanban, supermarkets, EPEI leveling, line-side flow)
  • Contribute to digitization/automation of planning and material management processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • 5+ years in materials planning, production control, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel/analytics
  • Proven track record improving on-time delivery, reducing shortages, and optimizing inventory
  • Prior experience coordinating, building relationships, and working in a team-oriented environment
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or Six Sigma/Lean certification
  • Experience with PFEP, Kanban, Heijunka/level loading, and line-side replenishment
  • Knowledge of aerospace or highly regulated industries and configuration/BOM discipline
  • Strong understanding of lead-time modeling, safety stock, and demand/supply balancing
