Job description

Job Summary:

The Molding Technician operates and performs routine maintenance to injection mold equipment. In this position you will perform repairs, preventative, and corrective maintenance on production machinery.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform molding machine start up and shut down, machine adjustments, and observe primary molding and auxiliary equipment to meet Safety and Quality Standards.
  • Perform change over and set-up molding machines to predefined conditions and ensure the machines are operating under validated operating parameters.
  • Maintain optimal flow of produced products in production.
  • Perform trouble shooting of molding processes, auxiliary equipment and resolving quality related complaints from Quality Control (QC).
  • Initiate communication to QC regarding the release of products produced.
  • Ensure that during engineering changes and the changing of injection machines that all process parameters are checked, adjusted, and verified to accommodate the changes.
  • Update documents in the production folder.
  • Responsible for mold cleaning, and compiling scrap data.
  • Responsible for data management and monitoring.
  • Train and support the machine operators as it relates to the operation of the machine.
  • Clean and set up auxiliary equipment.
  • Notify team manager of any non-standard or sub-performance mold issues as well as quality and safety issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Basic Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong Attention to Detail and Communication Skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Solid understanding of safe work practices and OSHA.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and evaluate company documents.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional disposition.


Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with injection molding processing experience on presses preferred.
  • Decoupled molding techniques a plus.
  • Experience working with a variety of mold machines a plus.
  • Experience working with a variety of different mold concepts (2 component, turning stack, two stage and multi cavity molds a plus).
  • Experience in processing different types of resins a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to higher levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive climbing (ladders), stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching over head.
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams such as Production, Molding, Engineering or similar departments.
