Job description

Salary: Starting at 45K

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing injection molding projects from initial kickoff through production launch, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, internal standards, and business objectives. This role works cross-functionally with tooling, quality, production, and supply chain teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, and in support of operational efficiency.

Responsible for managing assigned projects to meet or exceed quoted gross margin targets by actively monitoring labor, material, tooling, and overhead costs; identifying variances; and driving corrective actions to protect profitability relative to the original proposal. The Project Engineer tracks project performance against budget and schedule, supports quality and process validation activities, and provides regular status updates to stakeholders while helping to identify risks and implement solutions to maintain project success.

Job Duties

  1. Plan, schedule, Define scope, timelines, and deliverables. Coordinate launches, transfers, or engineering changes from kickoff through production readiness.
  2. Monitor compliance with applicable codes, standards, quality policies, and technical specifications.
  3. Serve as a point of contact for internal teams and customers. Provide updates, manage expectations, and escalate risks when needed.
  4. Responsible for managing assigned projects to meet or exceed quoted gross margin targets by overseeing labor, material, tooling, and overhead costs; identifying variances; and driving corrective actions to protect profitability relative to the original budget.
  5. Perform quality control, track project performance against budget and schedule, and report status updates without direct accountability for final outcomes.
  6. Support mold design reviews, sampling (FAI, PPAP), and process validation. Help ensure tools and processes meet quality and cycle time targets.
  7. Cooperate with other team members to provide technical support.
  8. Handle engineering changes, cost impacts, and documentation updates while minimizing disruption to production.
  9. Identify opportunities to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, optimize labor, or lower overall cost during and after project launch.
  10. Maintain accurate project records, including timelines, cost tracking, lessons learned, and technical documentation.
  11. Ensure projects align with safety standards, quality systems, and any relevant customer or regulatory requirements.
  12. Understand and apply ISO 13485 to applicable role responsibilities.
  13. Understand and apply AS9100 Clauses to applicable role responsibilities.
  14. Follow requirements of ISO standards to maintain and improve the Quality Management System.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education... Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field

Essential Knowledge Strong knowledge of engineering design software (e.g., Solidworks) and MS Office suite

Work Experience 2-4 years of experience in project engineering, management, or related roles.

Other Requirements Familiarity with engineering codes, standards, quality assurance practices. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and leadership abilities. Project management, time management, and organizational skills.
