Just for Kids, awarded Employer of the Year by Buffalo State and the University at Buffalo, is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated Lifeguard for our Williamsville School District, Sweet Home District, and Grand Island School District who have a passion for working with today's youth and whose everyday priorities align with Just for Kids core values: to provide an engaging, enriching, and safe out of school experience.

Just for Kids is a community-centered non-profit organization that offers before and after school and summer programming in the Amherst, Cheektowaga Central, Cheektowaga Sloan, Cleveland Hill (Cheektowaga), Grand Island, Sweet Home, and Williamsville Central School Districts. We also offer programming at The Park School of Buffalo, Saints Peter and Paul School in Hamburg, St. Benedict School in Amherst, St. Mary's School in Swormville, and Nardin Academy in Buffalo.
Position Summary:
As a Lifeguard at Just for Kids Summer Club, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of children during water-based activities and field trips. You will actively monitor water activities, provide supervision, and respond to emergencies as needed, while fostering a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Relationships
a. Maintain clear and open communication with the Program Manager regarding activity plans, group needs, incidents, or injuries.
b. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment with staff and participants.
2. Recordkeeping
a. Uphold confidentiality of information with regard to children and families, other staff, District operations, and the Just for Kids program at large.
b. Assist to maintain accurate record keeping (i.e. group trackers/attendance records, injury reports, etc.)
c. Ensure accurate record keeping by parents.
3. Training & Performance
a. Maintain up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification approved by the New York State Department of Health.
b. Follow all safety protocols and ensure that all water safety guidelines are strictly adhered to.
c. Identifying potential hazards and taking proactive measures to prevent emergencies.
d. Administering First Aid and CPR effectively in response to water-related incidents.
e. The ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and efficient manner.
Any other duties specified by the Program Manager and Just for Kids School Age Program administration

Requirements
Requirements:
โ€ข Must be 18 years of age or older.
โ€ข Two years of experience lifeguarding school age children is preferred.
โ€ข Regular and predictable attendance at all Just for Kids Summer Club locations.
โ€ข First Aid/CPR Certification and Lifeguard Certification approved by the NYS Department of Health Required
Physical Requirements: This position is very active and requires walking, bending, kneeling, running, twisting, squatting, climbing, reaching and balancing. The ability to maneuver over 100lbs at a time. This position includes prolonged periods of standing, walking, and surveying.
Schedule: The Just for Kids Summer Club runs from the end of June until the end of August. Lifeguards are responsible for attending all water-related field trips at each summer camp location (Williamsville, Sweet Home and Grand Island).
