Job description

Job Description: Our client is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Criticalist to provide advanced care within a busy 24-hour specialty and emergency setting. The role involves managing complex and unstable patients, supporting thorough diagnostic investigations, and communicating clearly with pet owners during challenging clinical situations.
The successful candidate will collaborate with experienced emergency, internal medicine, rehabilitation, nursing, and support professionals. Access to on-site CT imaging and modern treatment resources supports high-level case management, while experienced senior clinicians offer opportunities for continued learning and professional exchange.
This position is well suited to a compassionate critical care clinician who values teamwork, clinical precision, and maintaining excellent standards from patient intake through discharge.
Qualifications Needed:
  • DVM, VMD, or an equivalent accredited veterinary degree
  • Completion of a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency care
  • Successful completion of an AVMA-approved three-year residency programme
  • Current Illinois veterinary licence and maintained DEA registration
  • Board certification is preferred, with post-residency experience considered advantageous
