What is an internship in marketing?

Internships in marketing are temporary, often short-term positions that allow students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in the marketing field. These roles typically involve assisting with market research, social media management, content creation, campaign planning, and other marketing tasks. Interns work under the guidance of experienced marketing professionals, providing them with valuable insights into real-world marketing strategies and operations. These internships help individuals build their resumes, develop professional skills, and expand their network, which can lead to future job opportunities in marketing.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a marketing internship?

You'll likely collaborate with team members from digital marketing, communications, and design to help execute marketing strategies. This hands-on experience will help you develop practical skills and give you valuable exposure to the day-to-day workings of a marketing department. The diversity of tasks often allows interns to discover specific areas of marketing that interest them most.

Job description

Overview
Would you like to be part of a team that helps our communities thrive? BerryDunn is seeking a Consulting Intern to join our Medicaid Practice Group and focus on supporting our clients in modernizing their information technology enterprise to help achieve the objectives of their Medicaid program.
Join our team and you will be a success partner to state Medicaid agencies and participate in supporting state agency clients with their IT modernization projects. During your internship you will partner with your supervisor and other experienced team members to grow personally and professionally. This internship will provide you the opportunity to become familiar with a consulting firm, our systems, operations and client relationships.
You will be immersed in dynamic, in-person learning and get to connect with other interns and experience the company culture firsthand. This 10-week, full-time summer internship is based at our office in Kapolei, Hawai'i. Upon successful completion of the internship, and depending on business need, we offer ongoing employment opportunities with remote or hybrid options serving our clients across the nation. This internship provides a unique chance to connect, learn and grow with us - both in the office and potentially from wherever you are!
We have internship openings with our Medicaid Practice group for:
  • Summer session running from May 25, 2027 to August 6, 2027.

In order to be considered, you must include your unofficial academic transcription with your application.
You Will
  • Support one or more client projects with work such as written communication and analysis along with activities such as supporting client meetings, managing action items, and tracking and reporting on project progress.
  • Engage in a supportive team environment to gain an understanding of consulting.
  • Focus on your own development with your supervisor through learning objectives that align with BerryDunn's consulting competencies.
  • Participate in new business development through activities such as research, supporting proposal content, or developing marketing materials.

You Have
  • Currently enrolled in a BS/MS Degree program in one of these areas: information systems, health analytics, or business management.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Relevant work experience in one of the fields above is a plus.
  • Drive and initiative to learn.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and teamwork.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel.

Compensation Details
The hourly rate for this role is $30 per hour. This rate range represents BerryDunn's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final rate may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
