Description

At The Governor's Prevention Partnership students have hands-on work experience in:ย ย

  • Program Developmentย
  • Evaluationย
  • Researchย
  • Event Planningย
  • Policy Analysisย
  • Developmentย
  • Designย

The opportunities available in each department of The Governor's Prevention Partnership provide real-work assignments in a fast-paced non-profit organization and are designed to supplement a student's academic learning.ย ย

How flexible are internships?ย ย

No two internships are the same and no experience is without the ability to adapt and change as the intern or advisor sees fit. Interns are asked to participate in the design of their workload and work one on one with program advisors to see that the needs of both parties are being met.ย ย

What type of support and supervision do interns receive?ย ย

Program supervisors are qualified staff members with expertise in mentoring and prevention, particularly with youth.ย

What type of student is the organization looking for?ย ย

Each year, The Governor's Prevention Partnership looks to fill a number of positions designed to accommodate a wide variety of interest and majors. Above all, we are looking for students who:ย ย

  • Are enthusiastic and self-motivated;ย
  • Have sound organizational skills;ย
  • Can meet deadlines;ย
  • Have strong oral and written skills; andย
  • Has computer literacy.ย

What type of commitment is expected?ย ย

Students are typically expected to devote an average of 12-15 hours weekly. We are happy to accommodate interns whose schools require them to do a larger number of hours. Participants may alternatively work to satisfy work-study course requirements, or they may simply volunteer. ย

Is there a stipend?ย ย

Internship opportunities are unpaid, but we can sign off on school documentation as needed.
