Job description

High Voltage Electrical Engineer

VJ X-Ray LLC (VJX) is the global leader in developing and manufacturing integrated x-ray sources and high voltage generators. Our mission is to be uncompromising in pushing the boundaries of component design and manufacturing for every OEM partner.

A High Voltage Electrical Engineer at VJX is engaged in technical projects that include design, assembling, wiring, testing and troubleshooting complex, electro-mechanical, integrated x-ray sources and high voltage generators.

Job Description:

  • Design, modify and evaluate electronic circuitry, parts and components for high voltage power supplies for x-ray applications
  • Test, troubleshoot and debug electrical components and systems
  • Regularly work with power output up to 450 kV and up to 6kW
  • Work on multiple projects varying in complexity from inception to completion
  • Analyze equipment to establish operating data and conduct experimental tests
  • Works with technical personnel to ensure prototype models are assembled according to design specification
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications, internal guidelines, quality standards and national codes/standards
  • Generate, revise or finalize BOMs
  • Create and maintain engineering reports
  • Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, embedded software and special projects) on system designs and to help resolve customer issues and provide world class customer service
  • Participation in the creation of technical documentation, system manuals and customer facing documentation
  • Follow all VJX and OSHA workplace safety requirements and policies
  • Safety Sensitive Position

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of power supplies, electrical circuitry with established electrical safety work protocols and practices and ability to read electrical diagrams
  • Knowledge of analog circuit design
  • Familiarity with soft switching techniques, schematics capture and PCB layout
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems with minimal supervision
  • Experience with a variety of testing equipment including but not limited to Oscilloscopes and Multimeters
  • Proficient soldering skills
  • Proficiency in the English language with established written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and customers to influence, train and negotiate simple to complex topics
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, capable of prioritization, multitasking and effective organization
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US
  • Will need to successfully pass a drug screening and background check

Non-Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge of CE, UL, or other applicable regulatory guidelines or standards
  • Basic understanding of an ERP system
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for customer service purposes

Physical Demands and Mental Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, bend, stoop and stand in a manufacturing environment
  • Will be required to lift, move, erect, install and assemble components of varying weight, height, length and width dimensions
  • Day to day responsibilities will require lifting, moving, staging and placing of materials up to 50 pounds alone and heavier with assistance
  • Will need to repeatedly use hands & fingers to operate basic office equipment and operate hand and power tools standard to a production environment
  • Expected to effectively communicate in person, on phone, and via email or other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis
  • Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner
  • May be required to travel, domestically and internationally, by car and by air. Overnight stays may also be required.
