Mechanical Engineer III (Senior-Level) - Mission Critical & Data Centers
Company Name: DFW Consulting Group, Inc. (DFWCGI)
Location: Las Colinas (Irving), TX
Project Focus: Data Centers, Mission Critical, Telecom, and High-Performance Computing (HPC/AI)
Work Setting: In-Office (Las Colinas) with approx. 10% project-based travel
Salary: $120,000 - $155,000 + Performance-Based Bonus Potential
Recruited Exclusively By: Luxus | AEC Talent Partners
Position Overview
Are you a high-level mechanical strategist ready to command some of the most complex infrastructure projects in the country? We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to serve as a technical linchpin for our mission-critical and data center division. In this role, you move beyond "standard" HVAC design to architect the high-reliability cooling and power-dense systems that drive the modern digital economy. You will lead with total autonomy, providing the technical direction and oversight necessary to deliver zero-failure environments for global telecommunications and AI-driven infrastructure.
Joining our team means entering an environment built for engineers who crave ownership and technical rigor. The firm is a nationally respected MEP powerhouse, known for its 35-year legacy of innovation in environments where system redundancy and constructability are non-negotiable. Here, your impact is immediate-you aren't just managing projects; you are mentoring the next generation of engineers and refining the standards of excellence that define our industry-leading reputation.
Core Responsibilities
  • Mission-Critical System Design: Architect sophisticated HVAC and mechanical systems specifically for data centers, high-performance computing (HPC/AI) facilities, and telecommunications hubs.
  • Technical Stewardship: Independently develop advanced design concepts, ensuring all mechanical systems meet the highest standards of reliability, redundancy, and performance.
  • Complex Analysis: Perform and review high-level heating/cooling load calculations, ventilation assessments, and energy performance evaluations using HAP or TRACE 700.
  • BIM & Production Oversight: Direct the production of high-fidelity construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring seamless multidisciplinary coordination with electrical and structural teams.
  • Quality Control & Governance: Enforce rigorous firm-wide QC standards, reviewing drawings and specifications to eliminate coordination gaps before milestone issuance.
  • Mentorship & Team Evolution: Steer the professional development of junior engineers and designers, providing technical coaching and elevating the team's collective engineering acumen.
  • Construction Administration: Lead field observations and site visits, resolving complex RFIs and submittals to ensure the design intent is realized during the build phase.
  • Client Advocacy: Support the growth of the firm by maintaining high-trust client relationships and contributing to technical proposals and cost estimates.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience: 7+ years of dedicated experience within an MEP consulting engineering environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Technical Expertise: Mastery of load and energy analysis software (HAP, TRACE 700, or equivalent) and a deep understanding of mechanical and energy codes.
  • Estimation Skills: Practical experience with construction cost estimating using RSMeans or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Leadership Scope: Previous experience serving as an Engineer of Record (EOR) or a primary technical lead on multi-million dollar mission-critical projects.
  • Sustainability Focus: Demonstrated expertise in LEED or WELL standards and energy modeling for certification support.
