What you will do

The Pre-Sales Engineer serves as the technical authority supporting the accounts organization in the data center solutions manufacturing industry. This role bridges customer requirements with engineered solutions by translating business and technical needs into compliant, cost-effective, and scalable data center infrastructure designs. The Pre-Sales Engineer works closely with accounts, project management, engineering, operations and the customer to drive successful project outcomes.

How you will do it

Technical Sales Support

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact during the sales and design cycle.

  • Support accounts teams with technical knowledge, presentations, product demonstrations, and solution walk-throughs

  • Qualify customer requirements for data center solutions including power, cooling, racks, containment, modular systems, and prefabricated data centers

Solution Design & Engineering

  • Develop conceptual and high-level detailed designs aligned with customer requirements, standards, and budgets

  • Produce technical documentation such as:

    • Single-line diagrams (SLDs)

    • Layout drawings

    • Bill of Materials (BOMs)

    • Scope of supply and technical compliance matrices

  • Project Manage the design phase with a clear understanding of design change impacts to the project, timelines or costs.

Proposal & Bid Support

  • Lead technical input for RFP, RFQ, and tender responses

  • Review specifications, identify risks, assumptions, exclusions, and technical differentiators

  • Support pricing strategies by optimizing designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability, with support from the Design Engineering team

Customer & Partner Engagement

  • Participate in customer meetings, design workshops, and site visits

  • Collaborate with consulting engineers, EPCs, contractors, and channel partners

  • Address technical questions, clarifications, and objections during negotiations

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with:

    • Project management and Accounts on roadmap alignment and feature enhancements

    • Engineering teams to validate feasibility and production readiness

    • Operations and supply chain to ensure lead times and manufacturing constraints are considered

  • Provide feedback from the market to support continuous improvement

Knowledge & Enablement

  • Maintain strong knowledge of data center technologies, trends, and competitive offerings

  • Contribute to sales enablement through training, documentation, and best practices

  • Support handover from accounts to execution teams after contract award

  • Develop a strong knowledge of existing customer products (generally bespoke to each customer)

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • 3-7+ years of experience in pre-sales, sales engineering, or solutions engineering within:

    • Data center infrastructure

    • Critical power and cooling

    • Modular or prefabricated buildings

    • OEM or manufacturer environments

  • Strong understanding of:

    • UPS systems, switchgear, generators, PDUs

    • Cooling technologies (air, liquid, chilled water, DX)

    • Racks, containment, and white space solutions

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and construction documents

  • Proficiency with design and documentation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio, Excel)

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,000 - $149,000 CAD (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
