HIDTA Intelligence Analyst I:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field. Experience in a law enforcement or analytical field needed or advanced course work, internship, and/or research in specialized law enforcement area preferred. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
HIDTA Intelligence Analyst II:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Three years' experience in a law enforcement agency or analytical field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
HIDTA Intelligence Analyst III:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Five years' experience in a law enforcement agency or analytical field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
HIDTA Intelligence Analyst I, II & III:Conducts extensive research and multi-faceted inquiries that involves locating and identifying subjects, vehicles, evidence, and assets using numerous law enforcement networks and commercial databases. Establishes and maintains contact with counterparts in other intelligence organizations to eliminate duplication, enhance professional development, and keep abreast of current trends.
Primary Responsibilities
HIDTA Intelligence Analyst I:Duties performed will vary with the particular program, project, or area of expertise. Performs research using law enforcement and commercial databases, organizes and summarizes vast amounts of data. Prepares written reports and biographical datasheets, and prepares subpoenas. Organizes and disseminates subscriber and toll information, conducts telephone analysis, prepares graphs, charts, PowerPoint presentations and other visual aids. Ability to perform data input regarding subjects, vehicles and telephone subscriber information into criminal databases and investigative software. Performs other related duties as assigned.
HIDTA Intelligence Analyst II:Performs research using law enforcement and commercial databases. Organizes and summarizes vast amounts of data and prepares written reports and biographical data sheets. Prepares subpoenas, organizes, and disseminates subscriber and toll information. Conducts telephone analysis. Prepares graphs, charts, PowerPoint presentations and other visual aids. Creates and gives professional presentations. Performs data input regarding subjects, vehicles and telephone subscriber information into criminal databases and investigative software. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to prepare complex reports, target packages, graphs, charts, a synopsis of the findings, and other intelligence products that aid in identifying, linking, and prosecuting criminal suspects. Requires the ability to multitask and perform in high pressure situations while presenting a professional demeanor that represents the HIDTA Houston Area Gun Crime Initiative in an appropriate manner and perform in high pressure situations.
