Job description

Job Summary
This position, in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience and Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Fan Experience, is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive strategic marketing and fan experience plan for home athletic events at assigned sports. Targeting a variety of diverse audiences including alumni, faculty, staff, donors of University of Colorado Boulder, current students, and the Colorado Front Range Community at large, this position will specifically develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to increase revenue, ticket sales, and attendance for the CU Men's Basketball and Soccer programs. This role will have oversight of marketing efforts and in-game production for the men's basketball and soccer programs.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department's Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Marketing Plans and Ticket Promotions:
  • Partner with the external team to strategize branding campaigns, advertising elements, social media marketing, email and data acquisition for Men's Basketball and Soccer.
  • Collaborate with the team for Marketing Strategy to develop and cultivate relationships across campus and implement initiatives to increase student attendance and engagement at athletic events while working closely with Student Life, Greek Life, Residence Life and the Alumni Association.
  • Craft promotional messaging for upcoming games or events by working with graphic design team on assets for digital (website, social and emails) and traditional and non-traditional advertising, and videoboard graphics for gameday.
  • Create pre-, post-, and in-game promotional activities to increase revenue and improve game atmosphere.
  • Work with coaching or team staff and Creative Design team on team photo shoots.
  • Partner with liaisons from designated team, Communications, Ticket Office, Community Outreach, Facilities, Buff Club, BuffVision and Buffalo Sports Properties to coordinate and implement successful social, in-game promotions, halftime activities, and ticket sales effort.
  • Work closely with social team on pushing out content to promote up coming games and help increase digital engagement with the team's social accounts.

Game Day Operations:
  • Develop programming to improve gameday atmosphere elements, including videoboard content, pyrotechnics and special effects, on-field/court recognitions, halftime shows, sponsor activations, in-game promotions, fan contests, and other entertainment elements.
  • Game Producer- plan, write and implement game scripts for Men's Basketball and Soccer, which includes but is not limited to communicating the game information and performance cues for Band, Cheer and Dance, Mascots, PA Announcer, DJ, Interns, Video, and Audio team.
  • Coordinate the on-field duties at CU Football games. Indirect oversight of the gameday student interns, collaborate to enhance student engagement and overall atmosphere within Folsom Field.
  • Collaborate with Buffalo Sports Properties multi-media rights team to create unique sponsor activations that meet all contracted requirements and provide value to both parties.

Supervision:
  • Lead daily operations of one full-time employee and student interns.
  • Supervise the Assistant Director in their development and implementation of marketing plans for CU Volleyball, Women's Basketball, and Lacrosse programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to supervised staff while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and growth.

Additional Duties:
  • Follow the budget guidelines and restrictions.
  • Assist in special projects or events related to the athletic department and support efforts for all sports.

What You Should Know
This role is based onsite, Monday-Friday, during standard business hours of 8am - 5pm. Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required, depending on event needs.

What We Require
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Sport Management or applicable field.
  • Three years of experience creating and implementing marketing plans while handling game presentation duties that include creating game day scripts & directing in-game entertainment for the collegiate or professional sports marketing experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, judgment, initiative and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks, meet due dates, plan schedules and coordinate events.
  • Digital literacy including experience with creative design software(Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).

  • Master's Degree in Business, Sport Management, Higher Education or applicable field.
  • Five years of experience creating and implementing marketing plans while leading game presentation duties that include creating game day scripts & directing in-game entertainment for the collegiate or professional sports marketing experience.
  • Experience in fulfillment of corporate sponsorships.
  • Experience developing and implementing promotional activities and events.
  • Experience marketing and directing D1 basketball program.
