Job description

Overview
If you enjoy being up early, playing golf or just following the PGA tour this is the job for you. Holston Hills Country Club is seeking Full-Time golf course maintenance team members who are interested in working in an upscale private golf club environment. We are looking for individuals who are naturals at highly precise work, enjoy being outdoors, and want to work in an active team environment.
Applicants must be able to spend the majority of the day outside working on the course doing multiple jobs such as walk mowing greens, raking bunkers, general course maintenance, etc. Under the supervision of the assistant superintendent, you will perform work involving the use of various types of hand tools and gas-powered equipment. A background in golf maintenance or landscaping would be helpful but is not required.
Responsibilities
Job Characteristics of Golf Course Maintenance:
  • Typical daily schedule opportunities:
    • Mondays - Thursdays 6:00am- 2:30pm
    • Fridays - 6:00am. to 11:45a.m.
    • Saturdays and Sundays - 6:00am. to 10:00a.m.
  • Staff members are not required to work every schedule opportunity, but will need some weekend availability. We have a rotating weekend schedule utilizing all staff members.
  • Ongoing training opportunities to develop expertise and increase responsibilities
  • Complete tasks in an orderly, "start to finish" manner
  • Adhering to established guidelines and procedures to provide a consistent product

Work duties include:
  • Operates hand mowers, riding mowers, string trimmers on and around greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and rough etc.
  • Raking, weeding, edging bunkers
  • Ground maintenance work such as: soil prep, seeding, sodding, cart path grading, irrigation installation and repair, hand watering, grounds clean up.
  • Course setup for golfers: moving tees, changing hole locations, cleaning course accessories
  • Mowing tees and fairways with riding and walking mowers.
  • Filling of divots on course and practice facilities
  • Trimming irrigation heads
  • Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.

Special Requirements:
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable and willing to take oral and written directions
  • Should possess physical strength, stamina, and agility to perform the above tasks
  • Must have reliable transportation to work along with state issued driver's license and show up on time every scheduled
  • Must be willing to work some weekends as required to prepare the golf course for play

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous golf course, landscape and/or horticulture experience preferred, but not required

Compensation and Benefits:
  • $14 to $16 per hour dependent on experience, after a 30- day probationary period individuals have ability for pay increase.
