The Finance Organization drives business value by being a strategic partner in every decision made in support of the Company's success. We bring a powerful combination of financial expertise, a deep understanding of complex analytics, a thorough knowledge of the risk environment, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity.
The internship will be a general Finance internship that will provide an opportunity to work in the Corporate Planning & Analysis function of American Express Finance.
This internship position will be based in Phoenix, AZ.
Responsibilities
How will you make an impact in this role?
All interns receive a project solving a real business challenge for the organization. The project will include:
  • Providing best-in-class analysis and decision support to the Finance organization
  • Learning how to articulate decisions clearly and gain buy-in from stakeholders across the business
  • Gathering and analyzing information from a wide array of sources; identifying trends and articulating how those trends impact our business
  • Obtaining a comprehensive understanding of the business and its needs
  • Honing analytical acumen, communication skills, and the ability to tailor complex messages to the appropriate audience

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program
  • Students must have a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate large amounts of data, spot trends, generate meaningful insights and develop recommendations to drive growth
  • Strategic thought leadership and creativity in synthesizing data into an easy-to-understand story and articulate key messages across multiple audiences
  • A strong work-ethic, positive attitude, and highly motivated self-starter with robust interpersonal skills, adapting to change and showcasing the ability to build trust-based relationships within the Finance team and with business partners across locations / geographies
  • Acting and leading with courage, making decisions quickly, initiating and driving change management processes
  • Programming skills a plus
