June 16, 2026OpportunityAIMCo's Mortgage Investments team provides exposure to domestic and international real estate through direct holdings and fund investments diversified across property types and geographies. Members of the Mortgages team share similar characteristics: you are self-starting, disciplined, and results-focused. With exceptional analytical abilities, you also demonstrate strong communication and time management skills.
As a relationship builder, you interact with ease among diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders. As the successful Associate, Mortgages, you will gain exposure to the functions of a high-performing mortgage investment team. In this role, you will leverage your technical skills to support the Mortgage Investments team in investment analytics and financial analysis. You will assist with updates to the loan management and deal pipeline systems and be coached and developed to build a working knowledge of the Canadian and foreign commercial mortgage portfolios.Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Mortgages, the Associate, Mortgages will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the monitoring of portfolio and market trends, including interest rates, property sector performance, and geographic exposure, to inform investment analysis and portfolio insights

  • Assisting with the preparation of investment committee materials, internal memos, and supporting documentation for new and existing investments

  • Maintaining financial models and analytical outputs used to evaluate investment opportunities, portfolio performance, and risk exposures

  • Coordinating with internal teams and external partners to collect, organize, and validate information required for underwriting, closing, and ongoing asset monitoring

  • Tracking deal pipeline activity and helping ensure timely updates, reporting, and follow-up on active opportunities

  • Preparing ad hoc analysis, reports, and presentations to support senior team members, portfolio reviews, and strategic initiatives

  • Collaborating with colleagues across the Real Estate platform and other internal functions, such as Finance, Risk, and Valuations, on portfolio, reporting, and investment-related matters

  • Keeping abreast of commercial real estate market developments and sharing relevant insights that may impact the mortgage portfolio or prospective transactions

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Computer Science or another related field

  • 2-3+ years of work experience in investment banking, investment management, lending, real estate, pension plans, etc. Internships and co-op programs will be considered experience

  • Experience in, or knowledge of, commercial real estate would be considered an asset

  • Excellent knowledge of finance, accounting, business concepts, and programming

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including VBA, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive under pressure, contribute to team goals, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Exceptional attention to detail
