Job description

Built to develop tomorrow's leaders across the core pillars of our business, our two-year Development Graduate Programme builds deep expertise in Middle Office functions: Operations and Deals Desk.

This programme is designed for graduates who want to build a long-term, high-impact career in supply chain logistics and risk management: the critical functions that enable global commodity flows and keep every aspect of our business running.

This is a dedicated route into Middle Office careers, where the ambition is to become an expert and leader in these functions.

The Programme

Our two-year Development Graduate Programme in Calgary begins in October 2027 and offers structured rotations across key Middle Office functions, with cross-product exposure across both Energy and Metals & Minerals, giving you broad market knowledge and a versatile foundation for a career in Operations and Risk.

The programme comprises three 8-month rotations: Deals Desk Energy, Operations Energy, and Operations Metals & Minerals.

Throughout the programme, graduates gain practical experience and exposure to the full trade lifecycle, working at the core of our operations. By building expertise across these critical functions, graduates develop a strong foundation for success in Middle Office roles in Operations and Deals Desk, and are well-positioned to grow into future leadership positions.

Guided by some of the most experienced professionals in the industry, graduates receive ongoing support and development opportunities, providing them with the skills, mindset and confidence to help shape the next chapter of our business, from the Middle Office at its core.

You won't be shadowing. You'll be doing. From early in the programme, you'll be building real working relationships with internal teams, counterparties and traders developing the credibility and expertise that underpin every successful Middle Office career at Trafigura.

We'll give you all the support you need to succeed. But the drive to learn, grow and take ownership of your development has to come from you.

  • Strong numerical and analytical aptitude, and comfort working with data
  • Structured methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Able to build strong, lasting relationships across cultures and functions
  • Resilient and composed under pressure
  • Proactive, self-directed and genuinely driven to perform
