An Internship Full Stack Python Developer assists in building both the front-end and back-end components of web applications using Python and related technologies. Interns typically work under the supervision of senior developers to learn and contribute to tasks such as designing APIs, managing databases, and creating user interfaces. They gain hands-on experience with frameworks like Django or Flask, and may also work with front-end tools like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to develop practical programming and problem-solving skills in a real-world environment.

What types of projects and technologies can I expect to work with as an internship full stack Python developer?

As an Internship Full Stack Python Developer, you can typically expect to work on web applications that utilize both front-end and back-end technologies. On the back-end, you'll likely use Python frameworks such as Django or Flask, while on the front-end, you may gain experience with JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular. Interns often collaborate closely with other developers, designers, and sometimes product managers, participating in daily stand-ups and code reviews. The projects you work on are usually designed to help you build practical skills in both server-side and client-side development, with mentorship from experienced team members.

Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and effective communication skills help interns collaborate and adapt in dynamic team environments. These competencies enable interns to contribute meaningfully to projects, bridge back-end and front-end development, and grow quickly in a professional setting.

Job description

Forum Asset Management – Full Stack Developer (AI-Native)

Location: 181 Bay Street, Toronto

Work Schedule: Full-time, in-office (5 days/week)

About Forum:

Delivering Extraordinary Outcomes™ through Investment.

Forum Asset Management is a North American investor, developer, and asset manager with a 30+ year track record of delivering long-term value through real estate, private equity, and infrastructure investments. We are a purpose-driven firm committed to sustainability, responsible investing, and making a positive impact in the communities where we invest.

With over $4 billion in AUM, Forum is one of Canada's most dynamic investment platforms. In 2024, we completed the country’s largest real estate transaction through our acquisition of Alignvest Student Housing, making us the largest owner and developer of Purpose-Built Student Accommodations (PBSA) in Canada. Our open-ended Real Estate Income and Impact Fund (REIIF) is now over $2.9 billion, backed by a $4.0 billion+ development pipeline that spans coast to coast.

Forum is also building one of the fastest-growing self-storage platforms in Canada, focused on acquiring, developing, and operating institutional-grade storage facilities in undersupplied urban markets.

Forum is a values-led, high-performance organization. We embrace agility and innovation, and we strive to foster a team culture grounded in integrity, collaboration, humility, and results. Our growth is fueled by our ability to identify structural real estate themes and deliver strategies that balance income, impact, and long-term value creation.

Position Overview:

We are seeking two (2) Full Stack Developers to join our tech team and build the applications and agentic systems that teams across Forum run on. This role owns the entire development journey from design to deployment — you’ll build reliable and scalable systems that play a key role in shaping Forum’s operational strategies.

Reporting to the Tech Team Lead, you’ll join a lean, high-output tech team, working directly with data engineers to turn Microsoft Fabric-hosted data into production-grade tools used by business teams across a $3.9B investment platform. This is a hands-on, in-office role with high visibility. You’ll act as a trusted advisor and technical authority, and support Forum’s commitment to firm-wide AI adoption by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to design enterprise-grade AI systems that drive measurable business value. Forum is large and financially solid, and set for rapid growth across the firm and its platform companies: startup pace with institutional stakes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop full stack web applications, dashboards, and tools that solve complex business problems.
  • Build robust and performant agentic systems and LLM-powered solutions that connect with our enterprise data platform and third-party APIs, including embedded access controls and guardrails.
  • Use AI-native development workflows — agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) and MCP-connected agents — as your default toolchain.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to consume structured and unstructured datasets and surface meaningful insights in user-facing tools.
  • Partner with business teams to rethink established processes and introduce AI-native approaches (e.g., agentic skills and workflow automation).
  • Own code quality end-to-end: testing, deployment, debugging, and documentation.

Candidate Profile:

  • 2–3+ years of full stack software development experience with a track record of shipping enterprise-scale AI solutions.
  • Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying agentic AI systems in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted coding workflows (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, relational and non-relational databases, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Proof of pace: you have personally shipped through a high-tempo period — a peak season, a launch, a major event — and can show what you built and what it produced.
  • An entrepreneurial builder mentality: you ship fast, take ownership end-to-end, and are comfortable turning loosely defined problems into reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills: you can convey complex technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work experience in the real estate, private equity, or asset management industry is a plus.

Culture and Pace at Forum:

Forum thinks of itself as a 30-year-old start-up: dynamic, entrepreneurial team focused on creating value and positive impact. Our BHAG: grow the business to an AUM of at least $15 billion by 2030 while positively impacting a minimum of 50,000 lives. Marketing is one of the engines that gets us there, and we are looking for someone hungry to build it. Our core values are High Performance, Innovation, Integrity, Diversity and Impact. It is worth being direct about what that feels like day to day, because fit matters to us as much as credentials:

  • Velocity is cultural. We are an AI-forward firm where work that used to take weeks ships in days. You will prototype fast, measure, and keep what pays — “GSD” is written into our culture, and we mean it.
  • The scoreboard is visible. We run a written operating cadence with metrics reviewed weekly, from leasing velocity to campaign performance. People who like scoreboards thrive here.

If reading this gives you energy rather than pause, you will do well here — and we want to meet you.

Invest in Yourself:

  • Excellent Benefits – A top-tier insurance program designed to keep you healthy, active, and supported, plus a $1,000 annual wellness credit.
  • Competitive Total Rewards – We value our team members and offer a well-rounded package that includes competitive pay, paid time off, and performance-based incentives.
  • Compensation – We are committed to supporting your success and are offering a salary range of $85,000 – 100,000 CAD for this position.

  • AI-Native by Design – Every team member, regardless of role, gets hands-on access to enterprise-grade AI tools from day 1. AI is core to how we work and how we measure impact. You'll be challenged to build fluency fast, and in return you'll grow into a genuine expert who's ahead of the market.
  • Diverse & Inclusive Team – We celebrate diverse perspectives and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of equity and inclusion.
  • Employee Referral Program – Receive a generous bonus when your referral joins our team.

  • Lunch & Learns – Regular opportunities to connect, learn, and exchange knowledge with peers across the business.
