Role Overview
New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (NYL GBS) is seeking a Sales Summer Intern to join a dynamic 10-week internship program designed to provide hands-on exposure to Sales and Account Management. In this role, you will work alongside experienced Sales Representatives and Account Executives to support business development efforts, strengthen client and broker relationships, and contribute to the success of a local sales office. The internship offers opportunities to learn about the employee benefits industry, develop business acumen, and gain practical experience across multiple functions that support the sales process.
What You'll Do
  • Gain hands-on experience supporting Field Sales and Account Management teams while learning how broker and client relationships are developed and maintained.
  • Learn the NYL GBS product portfolio and collaborate with cross-functional partners across Sales, Account Management, Underwriting, Marketing, and Operations to understand how business objectives are achieved.
  • Utilize business platforms and technology tools including Salesforce, BenefitFlow, Tableau, and generative AI solutions to organize information, analyze data, and support sales activities.
  • Participate in mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities with sales leaders, account executives, and other business professionals to enhance industry knowledge and career readiness.
  • Collaborate with fellow interns on a capstone project focused on problem-solving, innovation, and teamwork while presenting recommendations and insights to stakeholders.

Required Skills
  • Rising senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to learn and apply new concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, and the ability to organize and present information clearly.
  • Interest in client-facing work and a willingness to contribute in a results-oriented, fast-paced business environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Salary range: $25

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
