Job description

Position Title: Certified RV Technician
Department: Service
Reports To: Service Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Auction Direct RV is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented RV Technician to join our growing service team. The ideal candidate is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining recreational vehicles while meeting RV Industry Association standards and manufacturer warranty requirements. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a commitment to quality workmanship, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair RV systems including:
    • Electrical (12V DC and 120V AC)
    • Plumbing and water systems
    • LP gas systems
    • HVAC systems (A/C and furnaces)
    • Appliances (refrigerators, water heaters, stoves, microwaves)
    • Slide-out systems
    • Awnings
    • Leveling systems
    • Roofs, seals, and exterior components
  • Perform manufacturer warranty repairs according to factory procedures.
  • Complete Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) on new and used RVs.
  • Conduct safety inspections and document findings.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
  • Install aftermarket accessories and customer upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate repair orders, parts usage, labor times, and technician notes.
  • Communicate repair recommendations with Service Advisors and customers when necessary.
  • Ensure all work meets RVIA standards, manufacturer specifications, and dealership quality expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations and dealership policies.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Certified RV Technician certification (or certification meeting manufacturer warranty program requirements).
  • Minimum 2 years of RV service experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Electrical diagnostics
    • Plumbing systems
    • LP gas systems
    • Structural repairs
    • Slide-out mechanisms
    • HVAC systems
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, plumbing schematics, and manufacturer service manuals.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and move RVs (preferred).
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work from ladders and rooftops.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified RV Technician
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (Forest River, Lippert, Dometic, Furrion, Coleman-Mach, etc.)
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (HVAC)
  • Lippert Technical Training
  • Cummins/Onan Generator Certification
  • Dexter Axle or suspension training
