Job Summary
The Clean Energy & Efficiency Intern supports a wide range of sustainability and energy-related initiatives, including building energy assessments, data collection, research, and analysis. This role provides hands-on experience with clean energy, electrification, and energy efficiency projects aligned with state clean energy and decarbonization goals. The intern will assist with field visits, documentation, energy savings calculations, and process improvement efforts while gaining exposure to real-world building performance and commercial energy solutions.
Field Support & Energy Assessments
  • Participate in on-site assessments of residential and/or commercial buildings.
  • Document building systems, equipment, and operating conditions.
  • Collect utility data, operational data, and field measurements.
  • Assist in estimating potential energy and cost savings from efficiency improvements.

Research & Analysis
  • Conduct research on sustainable energy solutions, energy efficiency technologies, and incentive programs.
  • Perform basic energy analyses, calculations, and data organization.
  • Contribute to the development of reports, findings, and client-facing materials.

Clean Energy & Electrification Support
  • Assist with clean energy and electrification projects, including EV charging infrastructure and renewable energy opportunities.
  • Support cost analyses and financial modeling for proposed upgrades.
  • Prepare and submit rebate and incentive documentation while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Documentation & Process Support
  • Help create and refine templates, checklists, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve internal workflows.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records for assessments, rebates, and project milestones.
  • Support project coordination tasks across teams, utilities, and external partners.

Collaboration & Professional Development
  • Actively seek feedback, ask questions, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on energy-related initiatives.
  • Represent the organization professionally when interacting with customers or facility staff.

Education and Experience
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Energy Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in energy efficiency, building systems, sustainability, or clean energy.
  • Strong research, analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in both field and office environments, independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational/time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally to project sites as needed.
