UNT Dining Services is home to Mean Greens Café, the nation’s first 100% vegan collegiate dining hall, and Kitchen West, Texas’ first and only university dining hall certified Free From™ the Big 8 food allergens and gluten. Position Overview

The Food Service Supervisor for Qdoba Mexican Eats at the University of North Texas -Retail Dining Services is responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness. This role provides hands-on leadership to team members, supports staff training and development, and ensures efficient workflow during all service periods.
The supervisor will assist in scheduling, inventory control, and adherence to company and university policies while fostering a positive and team-oriented work environment. This position plays a key role in delivering a consistent and engaging dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
The ideal candidate is a motivated leader with strong communication skills, prior food service or restaurant supervisory experience, and a commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED equivalent and two years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation, including one year of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, or training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions; ability to direct and manage the work of others. Ability to work from written menus, standard recipes and oral instructions. Ability to maintain records and complete forms accurately. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: checking orders for quantity). Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in preparing food on a large scale. Considerable knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service, and knowledge of necessary precautionary measures. Knowledge of food values and menu planning. Ability to train personnel in the care and use of equipment and in standard practices and methods used in largescale food service. Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

- Preferred experience includes at least two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant or fast-casual dining environment, along with familiarity or working knowledge of Qdoba Mexican Eats or similar fast-casual concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with the campus community.

Job Duties

  • The Retail Food Service Supervisor ensures operational standards for food preparation, presentation, and safety are consistently met through managerial oversight. This includes supervising staff to guarantee adherence to established procedures, while ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations at all times. 
  • Assesses service quality and customer satisfaction through established checkpoints. Upholds high standards for food quality and service to ensure a consistently excellent dining experience for all customers. 
  • Adheres to all University policies, health codes, and safety standards, regularly reviewing practices to ensure adherence.
