Job description

The intern will work with the Financial Analysts within the firm's Financial Analysis & Services group ("FAS"). FAS consists of non-attorney professionals working under the purview of the firm's tax department. The primary role of the intern is to assist the analysts to prepare various financial analyses and calculations relating to tax-exempt bond financings to ensure compliance with certain federal tax laws and regulations. Certain projects relating to "arbitrage" entail gathering historical investment information and analyzing such information using various spreadsheet models to determine investment returns and federal tax compliance. The intern will assist the analysts to prepare arbitrage reports which includes a summary of all assumptions and methodologies and the calculations for governmental clients. Other projects may include assisting the development of financial models, preparing yield calculations, loan amortization schedules, complex allocation analyses, swap/hedge analysis, presentations, marketing materials, and research.
The internship requires a student to be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree, preferably in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics or other technical field and knowledge of fixed income securities, general market principals, spreadsheet and database applications, and accounting principles. We are looking for someone to work 20 hours per week starting ASAP. Compensation is $25.00 per hour.
