Diagnoses, evaluates, treats, counsels patients with a wide variety of communication disorders and swallowing disorders. Provides appropriate care for patients served according to age, using procedures consistent with the scope and standards of practice. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran

Responsibilities
  1. Evaluates patient's communication or swallowing function within the scope and standards of practice, keeping service excellence as a main priority.
  2. Establishes and conducts a treatment program and keeps timely documentation that is in line with departmental, hospital and regulatory standards.
  3. Communicates evaluation results and progress in therapy.
  4. Participates in departmental and hospital performance improvement activities.
  5. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to
  • Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The clinician must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
Qualifications

Master's degree in speech-language pathology.

Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech, Language, Hearing Association (includes nine months of supervised internship and a qualifying national examination); CT license; continuing educational units; computer literacy; excellent communication (aural/oral/writing) skills.

Works in a typical office setting. May be required to work a flexible schedule. May be required to monitor radiation exposure with a film badge Moderate amount of sitting and walking with some stooping or bending.
