DHL Express is seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Communications Intern to join our Employee Experience Communications Team. This role provides hands-on experience supporting employee communications and engagement initiatives across the Americas. The intern will help manage communication assets, coordinate communication campaigns, and contribute to strategies that enhance employee engagement through digital and print communication channels.

The successful candidate will work closely with HR, Communications, and business leaders to ensure messaging is compelling, accessible, and aligned with DHL's culture and employee experience objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, audit, and maintain communication assets on the company intranet to ensure content is current, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating employee communication campaigns across multiple employee populations and locations.
  • Support the development of communication strategies designed to engage employees through print materials, digital displays, intranet content, and other internal communication channels.
  • Create and update communication materials including presentations, graphics, infographics, posters, digital signage content, and intranet articles.
  • Assist with content planning and communication calendars to ensure timely delivery of key messages and campaigns.
  • Monitor communication effectiveness and engagement metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather content, manage project timelines, and support campaign execution.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, branding, and visual design across all communication platforms.
  • Participate in team meetings and document key actions, opportunities, and next steps.
  • Support special Employee Experience initiatives and events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Human Resources, Organizational Communication, Business, or a related field.
  • Coursework in communications planning, marketing, public relations, graphic design, digital media, employee engagement, organizational communication, or related disciplines.
  • Strong interest in employee communications, employee experience, engagement, and corporate culture.
  • Experience creating visual communications using Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar design tools.
  • Understanding of communication principles, audience segmentation, messaging strategies, and content development.
  • Familiarity with digital communication channels, content management systems, intranet platforms, or social media principles.
  • Basic analytical skills and ability to interpret engagement metrics and communication performance data.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated creativity, initiative, and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects).
  • Experience developing content for websites, intranets, newsletters, or digital display platforms.
  • Familiarity with HTML, web content management systems, or digital publishing tools.
  • Portfolio or examples of communication, marketing, or design projects completed through coursework, internships, student organizations, or personal projects.
