Level II (in addition to Level I essential responsibilities/accountabilities):
• Maintains an intermediate level of knowledge on Middleware and related technologies appropriate to Excellus.
• Provides overall intermediate operations support for the Middleware environments through daily/weekly/monthly/annually defined
maintenance activities.
• Provides intermediate problem determination and resolution on the Middleware environments from both monitoring systems and escalated
help desk tickets.
• Provides and reviews recurring informational reports on Middleware performance and capacity metrics and makes recommendations to
address tactical and strategic challenges.
• Provides intermediate Middleware support for internal and external projects.
• Works closely with IPM Engineering to ensure that project designs are adequate for production processing.
• Provides technical assistance and guidance to less experienced engineers
• Coordinates deployment and operation of Middleware hardware and software installations.
• Introduces small scale process improvement and documentation currency consistently to ensure accurate management of the overall
computing and application environment.
• Leads smaller size internal projects as directed by leadership.
• Works with all areas to determine the appropriate business need as it relates to interfacing internal/external Middleware requirements to our
systems.
Level III (in addition to Level II essential responsibilities/accountabilities):
• Maintains an advanced level of knowledge on Middleware and related technologies appropriate to Excellus.
• Provides overall advanced operations support for the Middleware environments through daily/weekly/monthly/annually defined
maintenance activities.
• Provides advanced problem determination and resolution on the Middleware environments from both monitoring systems and escalated
help desk tickets.
• Provides advanced Middleware support for internal and external projects.
• Works closely with IPM Engineering to develop project designs that are adequate for production processing.
• Works closely with IPM Engineering to develop proposals and evaluate Middleware technologies and make recommendations of those
services.
• Provides advanced level of deployment functions for the Middleware environments.
• Monitors and reviews contractual agreements, including long and short term planning strategies.
• Develops organizational standards for Middleware system design, utilization and vendor support.
• Recommends and leads large scale process improvements to the overall Middleware Methodology.
• Leads larger scale projects as directed by leadership.

• Defines scope, objectives and needs for new or revised documentation of existing Middleware installations.
• Develops standard operating procedures (SOPs) as they relate to the support of Middleware systems.
• Provides direction and guidance to Intern/Contract/Temp help/Level I &II staff, as needed.
• Develops expertise in a Middleware technology discipline and acts as a company SME in that area.
Level IV (in addition to Level III essential responsibilities/accountabilities):
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in multiple areas as it relates to Middleware and associated technologies.
• Serves as technical lead, providing a resource of strong expertise for the resolution of complex Middleware problems, and in the research,
design, planning, and implementation of Mainframe solutions.
• Partners, mentors and trains other Middleware Engineers.
Level V (in addition to Level IV essential responsibilities/accountabilities):
• Acts as the Subject Matter Expert across a broad range of Middleware technologies and integration with other technologies as a whole,
both internally (Health Plan) and externally (Industry) as a whole.
Minimum Qualifications:
NOTE:

All Levels:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field. In lieu of bachelors, six (6) cumulative years of related
work experience required.).
• Related work experience (i.e., Co-Op/Internships) preferred.
• Working knowledge of MQSeries, DataPower, Kafka, and OpenShift.
• Experience in one or more languages (Java, Python, NodeJS, and SQL).
• Experience in supporting On-prem and Cloud integrations (Azure preferred).
• Basic knowledge of Distributed, Network, Storage, and Database Technologies.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
Level II (in addition to Level I minimum qualifications):
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field. In lieu of bachelors, nine (9) cumulative years of related
work experience required.
• Three (3) years related work experience (i.e. experience administering specified technology and/or environment).

• Experience working in a cloud environment.
Level III (in addition to Level II minimum qualifications):
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field. In lieu of bachelors, eleven (11) cumulative years of
related work experience required.
• Five (5) years related work experience (i.e., experience administering specified technology and/or environment).
• Demonstrated knowledge with DevOps principles and tools. Experience working with infrastructure configuration and automation tools and
processes preferred.
Level IV (in addition to Level III minimum qualifications):
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field. In lieu of bachelors, fourteen (14) cumulative years of
related work experience required.
• Eight years (8) related work experience (i.e., experience administering specified technology and/or environment).
• Demonstrated ability to perform in a mentor or leadership role across Middleware Technologies from a technical, project, and administrative
perspective.
Level V (in addition to Level IV minimum qualifications):
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field. In lieu of bachelors, seventeen (17) cumulative years of
related work experience required.
• Eleven (11) years related work experience (i.e., experience administering specified technology and/or environment).
• Advanced ability to perform all tasks and activities relating to Middleware monitoring, operations, installation, and maintenance for local and
remote locations.
• Possesses extensive knowledge of technologies outside of core Middleware discipline.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to complete work in a traditional office environment under fluorescent lighting.
• Ability to orally communicate.
• Must be able to function while sitting at a desk viewing a computer and using a keyboard and mouse for 3 or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the health plan service regions as needed.
• Ability to work in a home office for continuous periods of time for business continuity.
