Job description

Excavator Operator

The Excavator Operator is responsible for assisting foreman and work crews on assigned job sites. This position will require you to travel overnight in the Tri-State area.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary job duties will be general labor functions as directed by the project Crew Leader or Foreman.
  • Accountable to ensure accuracy related to tasks and follow all policies and procedures related to safety, quality, and production.
  • Loads and unloads equipment and materials.
  • Keeps the worksite clean and organized, free from unnecessary hazards.
  • Maintains a safety-first culture and actively participates in safety training.
  • Effective communication, include speaking, writing, active listening and taking instruction
  • Good leadership and training skills
  • Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of following blueprints and manuals
  • Excellent mechanical skills, including comfort with using tools to make simple repairs
  • Great time management
  • Keen attention to detail to identify maintenance, product or operations issues
  • Ability to stand, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time
  • Maintains current certifications for CPR/First Aid, OSHA 30, Asbestos Cement Pipe, Harassment Prevention, Competent Person Trenching and Excavation, Confined Space Entry/Rescue, and any other training appropriate for the type of work being performed.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Understanding of English as associated with the jobsite safety and the typical duties required of this position.
  • Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to solve conflict, create team atmosphere, dependable, and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
  • Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Class A CDL (Tanker endorsement, no restrictions) DOT Physical, Valid and up to date.
  • Minimum 1 โ€“2 years experience in operating equipment. (Backhoe, Excavator, Skid Steer, Dump Truck, ETC..)
