Position Description

Position Summary

New River Electrical is looking for a qualified Project Manager III (3) or Senior Project Manager to execute intermediate to large complex Engineer, Procure & Construct (EPC) project scopes, up to the highest level of project complexity or a customer program of projects. The PM3 or Senior Project Manager will take ownership and financial responsibility for assigned projects. As a recognized subject matter expert (SME) in the execution of EPC projects, you will be responsible for the execution of large and/or complex projects, managing all aspects of project delivery at an advanced level and reporting results up to and including senior leadership. The PM3 or Senior Project Manager provides critical leadership and management for the planning and execution of assigned projects and ensures maximum customer satisfaction. Further, the PM3 or Senior Project Manager is responsible for preparing estimates and bids for large scale EPC projects, project schedule management, overall planning and management of the entire project life cycle, procurement/purchasing, scope definition and change management, , and accurately managing financials including P&L for assigned projects.


Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Cultivate and nurture relationships with existing customers, expanding the EPC book of business and earnings.
  2. Review RFP opportunities and participate as a key stakeholder in development of bidding strategy and pricing. Take ownership for the Scope DOR. Facilitate bidding strategy, proposal development and pricing.
  3. Coordinate with Engineering partners and internal Procurement to ensure bids for major equipment and professional services are complete in response to customer Requests for Proposals.
  4. Develop and implement the Project Management Plan (PMP), including but not limited to the following management plans: engineering, procurement, construction, scope, cost, quality, resource, communication, risk, stakeholder, change, environmental & permitting, safety & health, testing & commissioning, and organization chart. Includes training of new project team members on the PMP.
  5. Lead and coordinate directly with engineering to establish development and distribution of engineering deliverables per project schedule and requirements.
  6. Develop and communicate meaningful training to project teams establishing best in class process and procedures.
  7. Manage relationships with professional services providers to ensure EPC project performance expectations are effectively communicated and implemented.
  8. Maintain ongoing communication with project stakeholders and customer interface in order to resolve changes, schedule conflicts, document errors, material shortages and manpower adjustments.
  9. Ensure effective management of project cash flows, financial reporting, and change order tracking.
  10. Exhibit proficiency in contract negotiation, development and management.
  11. Exhibit proficiency in project risk management, including the identification, prioritization, and mitigation of project risks while seeking out and exploiting project opportunities.
  12. Seeks guidance, advice, and support from the lead project manager to make good business choices and decisions.
  13. Support monthly work-in-progress (WIP) in a timely and accurate manner.
  14. Support the reconciliation of the revenue to expenses for each job on a monthly basis.
  15. Demonstrate the highest level of business ethics and consistently adhere to and promote New River’s culture, values and beliefs.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, project management, or related field of study
  2. A minimum of ten (10) years of construction project management experience in a highly complex environment including at least five (5) years as an Project Manager III role or similar capacity and a minimum six (6) years leading, developing, and motivating teams
  3. Utility or construction internship experience preferred between 1-3 years
  4. Experience without Bachelor’s degree:
  5. Eight (8) years hands on experience in the construction field plus three (3) years supervising construction operations
  6. Minimum of eight (8) years of field experience with three (3) years in the supervision of construction operations and a minimum of eight (8) years of construction management experience, preferably in a Project Manager III role or similar capacity
  7. Minimum of eight (8) years of field experience with five (5) years in the supervision of construction operations and a minimum of six (6) years of construction management experience, preferably in a Project Manager III role or similar capacity
  8. Mastery of all Project Manager competencies and experience for advanced and highly complex projects including but not limited to: all financials including P&L, all things cash, client proposals, risk mitigation, training and development
  9. Mastery of Construction Management/ Technical Craft Skills
  10. Ability to own, lead and manage New River Electrical most complex projects
  11. Ability and desire to serve as mentor and training support expert to other project team members
  12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  13. Demonstrated skills in providing senior leadership, motivation, vision and direction.
  14. Proven success in developing and maintaining advanced and complex customer relationships.
  15. Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  16. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  17. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  18. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Preferred

  1. Ability to read, understand, and provide constructability improvements from all issued project documents including but not limited to civil prints, below grade station prints, above grade station prints, wiring and schematic prints, station layout prints, one-line diagrams, and outage plans.


Travel

Travel for this position is required and will consist of overnight stays.
