We are seeking qualified candidates for our Solution Engineering Development Program (SEDP) beginning August 2026. This role is based in Wendell, NC.
Program Overview:
The I&I Solution Engineering Development Program (SEDP) is a comprehensive training and development program designed for recent bachelor's degree graduates. The program offers a unique opportunity to launch a career at Siemens and prepare for a role as a junior solution engineer for our power distribution and sustainability solutions.
Over the course of 18 months, you'll gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to real-world engineering applications across different areas of our Industry and Infrastructure solution business. You'll rotate through key functions including drafting, quality testing, bid management, and solution engineering, building technical skills, expanding your network, and collaborating with leaders to define your long-term career path at Siemens. This isn't just a job; it's a dynamic career-launching experience designed to build your technical skills, expand your network, and prepare you for a lasting future in engineering.
You'll make an impact by:
Rotating through various teams in the I&I Solutions Group every 6 months over the course of the 18 month program. During each phase, you will receive mentorship and hands-on training, enabling you to hone your skills in each focus area. The program structure is as follows:
Phase 1: Electrical & Mechanical Drafting in Solutions Integration Engineering (6 months)
  • Build a foundation in electrical and mechanical drafting, learning design constraints and creating inter-wiring schedules using industry-standard tools.
  • Support the Solutions Integration Engineering team with electrical and mechanical design documentation.
Phase 2: Inspections & Testing within Solutions Production (6 months)
  • Test low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment at our Knightdale, NC skid assembly workshop, including interconnection wiring of medium voltage switchgear, transformers, and low voltage panels.
  • Follow schematic drawings, wire lists, and manufacturing layouts while receiving mentorship from engineering professionals and operational leaders.
Phase 3: Application Engineering in Solutions Offer Team (6 months)
  • Support bid management and customer proposals within our Industry and Infrastructure offer team, learning to read and respond to customer specifications and tenders
  • Develop expertise in the project proposal process, interact with sub-suppliers and procurement teams, and learn to set up comprehensive customer offers
Phase 4: Junior Solution Engineer Role (Program Outcome)
  • Upon successful completion of the Solutions Engineering Development Program, transition into a Junior Solution Engineer position supporting power distribution and sustainability projects within our Solutions Engineering team. In this role, you can expect to apply the skills and knowledge gained during your rotations while working alongside senior engineers on customer projects from design through commissioning.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Candidates must graduate between Spring 2025 and Spring 2026.
  • Legally authorized for employment in the United States on a continual and permanent basis.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a manufacturing environment, which may include standing, reaching, lifting, and direct engagement with tools or equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate to Wendell, NC; relocation and housing support is provided to hires who must relocate more than 50 miles from their permanent address.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mechanically and electrically inclined with a curious, hands-on approach to learning.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative team player.
  • Open-minded with the ability to work effectively in diverse team environments.
  • Candidates with exposure to mechanical engineering concepts in addition to formal education in electrical engineering are strongly encouraged to apply.

The pay range for this position is $80,000.00 - $82,000.00 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
