Job description

Construction High School Internship Program
Start date anticipated sometime in June

Deacon Construction, LLC is excited to offer a paid Construction Internship Program for high school students who are interested in learning how construction projects are planned, built, and delivered. This posting is available year-round to allow students time to learn about the opportunity, with the formal recruiting and selection process beginning in the spring for summer internship placements.

Why Intern with Deacon Construction?

At Deacon Construction, we are more than builders. We are collaborators, problem-solvers, and community partners. Our internship program reflects the same values that guide our teams every day: Integrity, Teamwork, and Commitment to Excellence.

As an intern, you will experience:

People-First Learning
You will be supported by professionals who enjoy teaching and mentoring. Asking questions is encouraged, and learning is part of the experience.

Meaningful, Hands-On Experience
Interns work alongside project teams on active construction projects, gaining exposure to how real buildings come together from start to finish.

Team Collaboration
Construction is a team effort. Interns will learn how different roles work together, including superintendents, project engineers, project managers, designers, and subcontractors.

Career Exploration
This program is a great opportunity to explore careers in construction, engineering, architecture, and project management while gaining a better understanding of the construction industry.

Fun and Connection
Deacon values relationships and teamwork. Interns may have opportunities to participate in team lunches, jobsite events, and company activities that help build connections and make the experience enjoyable.

About the Internship

Internships are offered during the summer months. Interns will work approximately 30 to 40 hours per week and will be immersed in both job sites and office environments. Throughout the program, interns will support project teams and gain exposure to many aspects of construction, including:

• Observing and assisting with day-to-day jobsite operations
• Learning how construction schedules are created and followed
• Understanding how drawings and designs are used in the field
• Seeing how budgets, materials, and timelines are managed
• Gaining insight into how large construction projects are planned and built
• Learning about safety practices and jobsite expectations

The internship is designed to provide a broad overview of the construction process and help students better understand potential career paths within the industry.

Compensation $20.00 per hour

Eligibility Requirements

• Open to high school juniors, seniors, and recent high school graduates
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Interest in construction, engineering, architecture, or the built environment
• Ability to commit to the full summer internship program
• Willingness to learn, work as part of a team, and follow safety guidelines

Transportation Information

This internship may require travel to a Deacon Construction office and/or active jobsites. As part of the application process, applicants will be asked to indicate whether they can provide their own transportation or may need support with transportation to participate in the program.

How to Apply

Interested students should apply using the link provided. A cover letter is required and should include a brief introduction, your interest in the construction industry, and why you would like to participate in Deacon Construction’s internship program.

This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from industry professionals, and explore future career possibilities in construction.
