Position Summary

Joseph's Bakery is seeking reliable and safety-focused Material Handlers to join our Shipping & Receiving team on 1st Shift. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, transporting, storing, and staging raw materials, packaging, and finished goods while supporting efficient Shipping & Receiving and Production operations.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment ideal for individuals who are organized, dependable, and committed to maintaining inventory accuracy, workplace safety, and food quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, stage, and organize incoming raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods
  • Transport ingredients, packaging materials, and supplies to production areas as needed
  • Deliver finished pallets from Production to the Shipping & Receiving Department while ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately
  • Perform inventory cycle counts and help maintain accurate inventory records
  • Ensure proper inventory rotation (FIFO) and accurate product counts
  • Stack, stage, restack, and rebuild pallets as needed to support safe and efficient material handling
  • Clean the exterior of ingredient containers, packaging, and finished goods before they enter production or are shipped
  • Operate forklifts, electric counterbalance reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
  • Inspect material handling equipment before use and report maintenance or safety concerns
  • Operate cardboard baling equipment safely to prepare recyclable materials
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including:
    • GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
    • HACCP
    • Food Safety standards
    • Employee Handbook policies
    • Additional company procedures as assigned
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Shipping & Receiving personnel to support efficient operations
  • Participate in cross-training and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous Shipping & Receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Forklift certification (Electric Counterbalance Reach Truck) preferred or the ability to become certified
  • Experience operating forklifts, electric counterbalance reach trucks, and electric pallet jacks preferred
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.
  • Basic math skills required
  • Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions and warehouse documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to accurately complete inventory and material movement documentation
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to safety, food safety, and quality
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to cross-train in other Shipping & Receiving and Production functions
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality required
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and repetitive movements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
